Despite the category of beard you might end up finding yourself in, either it is a 1, 2 month beard, or even more, you can’t live without the fact that each length presents slightly different challenges, you need to get yourself beard maintenance products.
For the stage of beardless to about 2 weeks you may notice that your beard gets pretty itchy, may appear patchy, and is generally shaggy. Do not let itching deny you your beard! After being accustomed to shaving for so long, the growth of a beard presents your skin with a new environment. Sometimes it causes a period of itchiness. The itchiness should pass as your skin gets used to the presence of your beard.
Meanwhile, you can soothe your itchy skin with a moisturizing lotion or other skin-care products that are used to relieve itching.
Now that hairs finally get long enough to bend around and poke at your skin, apply sufficient amounts of moisturizer like a beard oil, or balm. Try to avoid moisturizers with alcohol in there as they actually dry out your skin.
We recommend to use The Gentleman's Beard Oil.
At this stage, you shouldn’t be using a shampoo as the length is still fairly short. We’d recommend using The Gentleman's Beard Wash that doesn’t contain irritant chemicals in it. There are a lot of soap options out there. Once you get through the itchy phase, you’ll get to the point where your beard will look untidy.
To neaten up your look, we recommend trimming the neckline, upper cheeks, and mustache lip. If you are going for the yeard, or natural beard, you should leave your beard untouched.
